“My motto is, ‘get high on hope, not on dope.’ I say this a lot to other members
because I want to inspire them to never give up and to have hope. The Waipahu Aloha Clubhouse gives me hope, confidence, support and encouragement.”
—Moses Simeona (member since 1997)
“I have a great opportunity to work on various programs on the computers at the Waipahu Aloha Clubhouse. Life is more interesting and exciting because I have something to do.”
—Charlotte Fukuda (member since 1999)
"When I first heard about the Clubhouse employment program, I was very excited because I wanted to be financially independent and learn new things. I’ve never worked before Clubhouse and now I’m so happy working and getting my own pay checks. It feels so good to be able to buy things that I like and treat my family sometimes. Not only is the money good, working has helped me to lose some weight and inches off my waist. I will be starting something new this Fall, I was accepted at Leeward Community College and will be taking classes in August. I am so excited. I’ve come a long way and hope to continue being a productive citizen in the community."
—Sharleen Shinsato (member since 1996)
"Even though I am unsure of what the future has in store for me, I do know I’ll always have a home at the Waipahu Aloha Clubhouse and I’ll always be a member."
—Michael Nuesca (member since 2008)
"My success in life cannot go without recognizing the Waipahu Aloha Clubhouse. The staff and members supported me throughout my 6 years here and help me be a better person. I want to thank the Clubhouse. I also want to thank the employers who believed in me and gave me the opportunity to work."
