Facilities Unit
Working together to create a safe and welcoming Clubhouse environment.
Hands On Work That Builds Skills and Community
The Facilities Unit assists members and staff in maintaining the indoors and outdoors of the Clubhouse. Tasks include housekeeping, grounds maintenance, basic maintenance, gardening (farm to table), and minor repairs of equipment and building fixtures.
The Facilities Unit’s efforts are fundamental to providing a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment that supports the Clubhouse’s mission to enhance self-motivation, respect for self and others, and a desire to work. In the Facilities Unit, both members and staff unite in action, transforming ideas into reality and discovering the meaningful satisfaction that comes from accomplishing achievements together.

No, you do not need any prior experience to be a part of the Facilities Unit.
The Facilities Unit welcomes everyone, no matter what skills or abilities you may have right now. You will be working side-by-side with staff and other members who can show you what to do. You will learn as you go.
Even if you’ve never picked up a tool before or have some experience, there’s a place for you in the Facilities Unit! We all learn from each other at the Waipahu Aloha Clubhouse. What’s important is your willingness to learn, to help, and be a part of the team and that’s what matters the most.

The skills you learn in facilities (like building maintenance, cleaning, organizing spaces and working as part of a team) are skills that many employers are looking for. When you are ready for outside employment, you can share your Facilities Unit experience with potential employers and show them the real abilities that you have learned and developed!
