ʻOhana Kitchen & Ono Grinds
Meals, skills, and shared connection that support daily wellness.
A Place to Cook, Learn & Grow
The Kitchen Unit is a busy unit where members and staff work side by side to plan, shop, and prepare delicious and nutritious meals daily at a low cost. We offer various food choices for breakfast and lunch. Members are also able to sign up to attend the Food Safety Education Program at the Hawaii State Department of Health. When successfully passed this entitles the member to hold the Food Handlers certificate, good for three years. This is free of charge. The members gain essential skills, confidence, and a sense of pride to be part of the unit.
The Ono Grinds snack shop is open twice a day for members and staff to purchase snacks such as bottled water, sugar-free soda, chips, muffins, and various other snacks. This is member run. The snacks are offered at a low cost. This is a very popular benefit to becoming a member at the Waipahu Aloha Clubhouse.

here are several reasons the menu may change (which we point out on the monthly menu that the menu may change). We do our grocery shopping once a week for the following week’s menu. There are instances that Sam’s Club may not have the necessary ingredients needed to prepare the dish or we have listed so we change the menu to reflect it. Other times, we may not have had time to do the shopping, so we improvise the menu with what we have on hand.
We also emphasize checking the Menu Board by the Kitchen for the daily menu.

We serve breakfast from 7:15am until 8:45am or until the food runs out. There are times when we run out of breakfast before 8:45, thus we do recommend calling the Clubhouse early to reserve a breakfast plate.

We ask all the units for a list of suggestions of what the members would like on the menu for the following month. The Kitchen Unit members and staff go through the suggestions and make our decisions based on cost, preparation time and likelihood that members would enjoy the dish. We have also added days where we prepare healthy meals
