Career Development
Employment and Education Support for Your Next Step.
Helping Members Build Skills for Work & School
The Career Development Unit (CDU) assists our members in obtaining a job through job preparations such as resume making, job hunting, interview practice, skill building, etc. This unit also helps our members go back to further their education through enrolling in specialty courses or the local colleges.
Different Types of Employment Opportunities:
Transitional Employment
The Transitional Employment (TE) program is designed to mainstream our members into job opportunities through partnerships with businesses in our community. In addition to adding to the productivity of a business, TE jobs help members regain their self-confidence and independence by building work experience and specialized skills. TE lasts for a duration of 6-9 months. The Clubhouse provides on-site training, absentee coverage from placement managers and transportation to the workplace.
Supported Employment
The Clubhouse offers its own Supported Employment (SE) program that is developed from satisfied employers that keep our members in their TE jobs. This is a part-time position without time limit. Clubhouse maintains a relationship with the working member and the employer. Member and staff in partnership determine the type, frequency and location of desired supports which could include training and on-site support from placement managers.
Independent Employment
Independent Employment (IE) program assists members to secure, sustain, and better their employment. Clubhouse provides resume building support, completing application, employment readiness, securing entitlements and retention. Members who are working independently continue to receive all available Clubhouse supports and opportunities as well as participation in evening and weekend programs.
Education
Clubhouse assists members to reach their vocational and educational goals. Members are linked to community resources, colleges, universities, adult education, and HI Literacy Program. The 5 working units provide in-house educational opportunities, self-enrichment, and life skills that utilize the teaching and tutoring skills of members.
